Raum B takes part in the Berlin Food Art Week 2015 – 19/26th June 2015

Barbara Cousin

Barbara Cousin

Born in France in 1985, Barbara Cousin lives and works in Berlin.

Her work questions our view of time and the fragility of things. Using mostly paper, she creates drawings and installations that mix valuables such as family photographs and any a priori elements – a piece of paper, a piece of cloth, handkerchief… – which she considers relics, souvenir items.

She has already exhibited in Paris (Drawing and water color painting exhibition, Grand-Palais, Shrubs, young artists’ works exhibition) and Berlin (Kunstkaserne, das Kapital).

During the exhibition “Slices of time”, Barbara Cousin focuses on food as an object of remembrance (“The colors of childhood”, “I remember that meal”, “My beloved tamarind”) being altered by the inevitable flow of time (“Sectioned fruits”, “The delicate rot”).

For this occasion, Raum B proposes a selection of books related to the exhibition’s thematic. The so-called “flow of time” is a steady (and paradoxically almost timeless) theme that has inspired many artists active in different kinds of media. And literature is no exception. Raum B will present a selection of books that deal with the flying time, its expression as a vital threat or the different behaviours one adopts to face up to it. Literature, art books not to forget cooking books will be there to point out other aspects of the thematic.

Opening/vernissage: Saturday 20th June, 6 pm
